HOW I WORK

I work with a person-centred approach to counselling. Please click on 'Person-centred' above for more on what person-centred means.  I usually see clients once a week for an hour but am open to longer sessions and/or more frequent sessions if that is what you want.

How do I make an appointment?

If you want to make an appointment with me then please contact me using my telephone number or my email address (click on 'contact details' above). If you phone and there is no answer please leave a message informing me when it is convenient to phone you back and I will get back to you as soon as I can.  If I don’t get back to you on the day you contact me it is usually because I am busy with clients and so I would normally get back to you the next working day.  When I phone you back I will ask for you; if a person other than you answers the phone I will not divulge that I am contacting you about counselling without our pre-arrangement or your permission. I find personal mobile phones and emails are a good way of contacting people.  I am the only person who checks my telephone messages and emails.

When we have agreed on a mutually convenient time we can meet for our first session together. In the first session we would normally discuss what you want from counselling and whether or not I can meet your needs.  We would also discuss the fee.  I normally charge £35 per session.  However, for clients who are on a low income or unwaged I am more than happy to make concessions as long as it covers my basic costs.  Again this is something I am happy to discuss during our first session.
